MEET FOXIE:

Foxie is a one year old, spayed female, 33 pound red ACD rescued from a high kill shelter in December 2001. She has been living in a foster home with two large dogs (golden retriever and lab mixes) and absolutely adores other dogs. She is looking for a permanent home with at least one other dog. Foxie is very shy with new people and may take a couple of weeks to feel comfortable in her new home. But once she bonds and feels comfortable, you will not find a more loving, mellow, obedient, alert, smart, focused, cuddly dog around. She is fabulous on and off the leash (very focused on her human and does not run off, does not chase wildlife) and greets each new dog in her path with a friendly sniff. She is fine with kids but probably would not do great in a home with very young or hyper kids because of her shyness. She likes the dog park, open space hikes, neighborhood walks and fetching. Foxie is also VERY mellow. She has not shown any aggression, separation anxiety, destructive behavior or annoying barking at her foster home. Her only challenge is her shyness so she is looking for a patient home that has time to continue socializing her (and introducing her to all the fun things in life) and take her to a training class. She has been told she would be great at agility once her confidence increases. If you are interested in adopting Foxie or learning more about her, please contact Ann McQuillen at Ann@cattledog.com or 530.620.3000 or Kimberly Borah info@secondchancerescue.com

MEET CHLOE:

Chloe is a 9 to 14 month old ACD blue girl with a full tail. She is such a charmer that everyone loves her. Chloe appears to have had a litter recently and is drying up. She is UTD on her shots and will spayed shortly. Chloe weighs about 40 pounds. She is affectionate, sweet-natured and very playful. She is currently fostered in a home with young children and is very good with them. She loves to play with other dogs and is okay with cats. We do not know if she is housebroken but she does appear to have basic manners. We are looking for a good home, full of companion pets, with loving owners who will be the lucky recipients of Chloe's happy and captivating personality.

MEET MICKEY & PINKY:

Mickey & Pinky are litter sisters who have been raised at the rescue training facility in northern California. They came to us when our coordinator went to pick up 3 ACD puppies and was confronted with two additional ACDx puppies whose Mom was so ill the shelter had euthanized her. They were just 4 1/2 weeks old and had been born with a very bad case of demodetic mange and a staff infection on top of it. However, the shelter worker's felt they would get better with proper care. They pleaded with us to take them because they had been scheduled to be euthanized that afternoon due to their condition and lack of money to treat the problems. They were just tiny babies and to make a long story short, we just couldn't say no. The sisters lived on our living room couch for the first 4 weeks. They had to be bathed daily, medicated and hydrated several times a day to help them get over the staff infection which was life threatening. The mange was something we would address if they got better. We dressed them in infant rompers to keep the medication on their rash and keep them from licking it too much. They think it's normal to "dress up". It took us several months to knock out the infection. In the meantime, they lost most of their hair and looked like little black pigs. We couldn't tell them apart so we put a pink puppy collar on one...thus Pinky got her name. As soon as we had the infection under control we began to treat the mange. They have some facial scars due to the infection and a couple of places where all the hair didn't grow back completely but they are now healthy 1.75 year olds with no mange or other problems. They have been spayed are up to date on shots and very very socialized. They are great with all dogs, adore kids of any age and love to ride in the car. They are crate trained, come when called, sit on command, are fairly reliable off lead and are learning other obedience skills. While it would be a dream home for them to go together, they can be separated.

MEET TOBY:

Toby is a neutered male red Australian Cattledog, approx. 3-5 years old. He is housebroken, knows sit, lie down, shake, likes to play Frisbee, and fetch. He loves the water. Toby is a good traveler in the car. He is quiet & low to moderate energy. He seems fearful of cats so gives them a wide berth & is dog social with non-alpha/confrontational dogs. He is standoffish with strangers until he gets to know them, as is typical with this breed, but once he gets to now you, he is quite affectionate.

If you are interested in Toby, please contact Hollie Lama (hollielama@mindspring.com) or 707-795-7575

MEET RUDY:

Rudy is a 1.5 year old ACDx whose mother was an ACD and father was a traveling salesman. Rudy is neutered, heartworm free and very sweet. He loves to romp, play ball and loves people. He is crate trained, housebroken and likes to ride. He would do best in a home with an active family and room to play. He likes being outside and is quite content to lounge around the yard. He is very ball and food driven. He's okay with cats and other dogs.

MEET DUGAN:

Dugan is a bright, happy-go-lucky, friendly and affectionate five-month-old (DOB 4/27/01), a handsome light blue with docked tail. He is still very much a puppy and is very active and full of energy! He gets along well with other dogs, kids, cats, and caged birds and loves playing ball. Everyone he meets, whether human, canine or feline, is his friend and a potential playmate. He is hearing impaired but is a smart boy and would make someone a wonderful companion.

If you are interested in providing Dugan with a home, please contact Alexandra Hanson (alexh@infostations.com) 916/485-2824 or Ann McQuillen (ann@cattledog.com) 530/620-3000.

MEET LACEY:

Meet Lacey, a tail challenged 4 yr old blue female. Lacey is a very sweet, affectionate girl that is good with women, but is shy around men. Her owner abandoned her, along with a blue boy we also currently have in rescue named Colt. Colt & Lacey are somehow related -- possibly littermates or perhaps mother & son. Lacey is starting to learn "wait/stay" & appears to know "sit". She will need someone who is willing to work with her on socialization. Lacey really wants someone to be her buddy & to bond with, as she does bond quickly. Lacey is good with other dogs & cats & would do best in a child-free home.

If you are interested in Lacey, please contact either Vida Vreca-Aastrom (vidster@cattledog.com), 530/273-9663, or Ann McQuillen (ann@cattledog.com), 530/620-3000.
